Company Information

In Germany, the biggest share of renewable energies is in wind energy. In future, around two thirds of this will be generated by offshore wind farms in the North Sea and the Baltic. But only rotating wind turbines are economically viable. The maintenance and repair of these systems needs to be planned right from the start and also presents new challenges to the service shipping industry; for wind farms are at least 20 kilometres from the coast and the distance between individual systems is also large with very long approach routes. Fast offshore catamarans that reach a high speed with low fuel consumption, such as the Workboat of FINTRY Marine Ltd. are therefore best suited as supply boats for technicians. Like its predecessor model FINTRY One, the FINTRY-Brødrene Workboat 29m combines superb seaworthiness and high stability without loss of comfort.

FINTRY Marine Ltd. markets commercial catamarans such as pilot vessels, workboats and high-speed ferries. The international group promotes the use of innovative technologies in ship construction and realises projects that are tailored to the individual requirements of their customers. Contrary to previous standard practice, the vessels are no longer produced in aluminium. Instead, they are built using an innovative sandwich structure made of carbon fibres. This construction method has given the company, together with its experienced partner, the Norwegian shipyard Brødrene, cutting-edge status in the commercial catamaran segment. The corporate group, which was established in 2004, is represented in Monaco, Oslo and London. Thanks to the international structure of our company, we are in a position to cooperate with renowned partners, says Lindsay Leggat-Smith, General Director of FINTRY Marine Ltd. We coordinate construction of the vessels from the design offices and suppliers to the shipyard. Our developers put their faith in proven methods, combining these with the latest technologies and materials.’

Service of offshore wind energy systems

To ensure its products are state-of-the-art at all times, FINTRY Marine Ltd. is constantly further developing its catamarans. FINTRY One, for instance, is 20 metres long in its present design. The successor model FINTRY-Brødrene Workboat will measure all of 29 metres. It thus offers space for up to 24 passengers. Irrespective of the design, however, the catamaran can also serve not only as a reliable transport boat to, between and from the wind farms, it can also be used as a mobile stockroom for spare parts.

The carbon fibre construction of the FINTRY catamarans is characterised by its lightness and high levels of mechanical strength and temperature resistance. As a result, the catamarans can reach higher speeds, while their fuel consumption, thanks additionally to their optimised hulls, is considerably lower than that of comparable commercial vessels. This means that, with their service life of more than 25 years, the latest drive technology and their reduced energy requirements with higher performance, they also ease the burden on the environment in the long term. Thanks to their very low level of wear and tear, maintenance intervals are far longer than with other vessels and maintenance and repair costs are correspondingly low. This saves valuable time and expense. In this way, the service catamarans combine the commercial goal of efficiency with an environmental awareness that is in keeping with the times.
