Mecal was founded in 1989 and has over 15 years of expertise in the development of wind turbines. With our know-how of wind turbine technology and using Finite Element Analysis software (partly developed in-house), we design and optimize wind turbines and their components for the major players in wind turbine manufacturing. Key requirements in this design process are: reliability and assurance, durability, noise reduction, low energy costs and high energy output.
Mecal has a track record in the design and certification of standard and site-specific towers (both steel tubular and hybrid) for different wind turbine types. Site specific towers are optimized tower designs that enable maximum yield against minimum cost while still meeting planning restrictions.
Another area in which Mecal is active is field inspections, technical Due Diligences and yield optimizations of installed turbines. These services are offered to wind park investors, project developers and other stake holders worldwide. Mecal has developed its own efficient and effective inspection procedure and issues concise reports with a clear relation to the business of the customer.
Mecal’s work in Turbine Yield Optimization consists of a thorough analysis of all available turbine / wind park data (reports, permits, turbine data, parameters) possibly supported by additional measurements in the field and do result in economically justifiable improvement proposals. Mecal tightly works together with BBB Umwelttechnik in this area.
