Mountains and Complex Terrain

In complex terrain, special methodologies are necessary in order to attain precise wind assessments and power calculations. Based on our vast experience and expertise from research projects, we can offer you assessments or supplementary analyses tailored to the requirements of your projects.

SODAR

In complex terrain, mast measurements do usually not suffice for determining wind conditions at hub height of a wind turbine. We offer SODAR measurements, in order to determine the vertical wind speed profile up to 150 m above ground.

CFD modeling

Conventional wind modeling tools are unsuitable for complex terrain. With WindSim, we employ a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model which was specifically designed for wind power modeling in complex terrain.

Ice and Low Temperature

Due to harsh conditions in mountains, special measurement procedures are necessary in order to attain the necessary precision and data reliability.
