Eco Wind Power, a wind energy firm backed by Johnny Ronan and Richard Barrett of Treasury Holdings, is back on the market in the wake of the €1.8 billion sale of industry peer Airtricity.
Airtricity was the preferred bidder to buy Eco Wind Power in a deal worth about €200 million, but the deal was shelved when Airtricity itself was put on the market. The €200 million includes a sizable amount of debt, according to industry sources.
The sale process of Eco Wind is now understood to be continuing, with a new bidder likely to be selected in the coming weeks.
Interested parties include Viridian and SWS Natural Resources, both of which have held preliminary discussions with Eco Wind.
