High level decision makers to discuss key energy issues at EWEC 2008

Energy and climate change issues now represent a key priority of the European Parliament and the new Slovenian Presidency of the European Union, which began on 1 January 2008.

The European Commission’s energy and climate proposal, issued on 23 January, paves the way for a massive expansion of wind energy in the 27 Member States and a new energy future for Europe. Slovenia will kick off the initial negotiations on the legislative proposals, hoping to reach an early agreement in 2009.

This year's EWEC event is ideally located in the heart of European politics, and the timing could not be better to facilitate discussion on these issues between the main stakeholders and decision makers. You cannot afford to miss this unique opportunity.

Numerous MEPs and the Slovenian Minister of the Economy, Andrej Vizjak, have confirmed their participation in the conference, where they will outline their views on how Europe should build a secure, sustainable and competitive energy supply for the future.

“We are in the process of changing how we power Europe and we rely on renewable energy sources to make this work. Technological breakthroughs in wind energy over the last decade represent one of the key solutions to the challenges that we are facing. It is my great pleasure to participate in your event because I believe in the power of wind technology.” Andrej Vizjak, Minister of the Economy, Slovenia.
