March 2008, Munich – Bearings and gears in wind power plants are expected to operate reliably over a long time, require as little maintenance as possible, and that at a minimum of operating and downtime costs. Speciality lubricants can contribute significantly towards this goal, offering striking benefits that standard lubricants don't have. For a full exploitation of these benefits, in-depth knowledge of the basics of lubrication engineering as well as a lot of detailed information on how to lubricate the individual components of a wind turbine are invaluable. On 26 and 27 May, 2008, the global lubricant specialist Klüber Lubrication will be organising the first 'Wind Day at Klüber'. This event will offer an opportunity to wind park operators and service providers as well as designers and R&D specialists to elaborate their knowledge on the lubrication of wind turbines, central lubrication systems, bearing technology and oil maintenance in a dialogue with the attending experts.

In a number of papers, the specialists of Klüber will, among other things, outline the basics of lubrication engineering and talk about issues arising in bearing and gear lubrication in wind turbines. Experiences will be shared and service topics discussed, supplemented by visits to the lubricants test bay. This 'Wind Day' is Klüber Lubrication's response to numerous queries regarding the lubrication of wind power plants, offering a forum that makes insiders' expertise and field experience accessible to everybody in this industrial sector.
