Vestas has received an order for a total of 18 units of the V90-3.0 MW turbine and 25 units of the V90-1.8 MW turbine for two projects in Spain. The contract comprises supply, installation, a VestasOnlineTM Business SCADA solution, as well as a five-year service agreement.
The order has been placed by EDP Renováveis, which is the EDP Group's renewable energy company. EDP Renováveis is currently the third largest wind energy operator in Europe and the fourth largest operator in the world.
The wind turbines will be for projects located in Terra Alta in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia. At the customer's request, details about the name of the projects cannot be disclosed.
As of 1 January 2008, Catalonia had an accumulated installed wind capacity of 347 MW1 Source: Spanish Wind Energy Association and a target of 1,000 MW installed by 2010.

The estimated total annual production of the two wind power plants will amount to 260 GWh. The two projects will satisfy the yearly electricity needs of approx 72,000 Spanish households and will save the environment from more than 102,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
