Argentina - A wind farm will be developed in a Patagonian municipality

The goal: actions aimed at diversifying the energy matrix of the region

The Ministry of Production, the provincial government of Rio Negro, INVAP and the German company WPD are developing the project. The goal: actions aimed at diversifying the energy matrix of the region.

At first, they will install a 500 KW wind turbine that will generate energy from the first moment of its installation. The initial investment to carry on the installation of this first wind turbine, which will also allow determining the wind resource potential of the site, is Arg.$ 2 million (approximately U 600 thousand).

Once the viability of the project is confirmed, they plan to install a wind farm with three 2MW wind turbines. They expect the lifespan of the wind farm to reach 25 years.

This project will be located in the municipality of Catriel, imposing a contractual obligation to the German firm, which establishes that they must pay a fee to the municipality by the energy sold, while also undertakes to hire local labor for the construction of the wind farm.
