Mexico - Veracruz to have its own wind map

Three anemometers to record wind speed and volume flow for one year

The Spanish energy company Galicia S. A. (ENGASA) and its subsidiary Genere, in collaboration with the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), is to develop the wind atlas of Veracruz.

In recent days the agreement was signed with the Spanish company, involving the University of Veracruz, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Inter-Institutional Research Center of New Energies.

The towers will be installed within the next thirty days in Totalco, Perote and Cabo Rojo, Tampico Alto. The investment is 2 million Euros. For a year, the three anemometers will record the wind speed and volume flow.

The Governor of the State indicated that they have other projects in Paso Doņa Juana and Anton Lizardo, with investors from Germany and Spain, and expressed the commitment of the state of Veracruz in the development of alternative energies: "We will be targeted to wherever there is energy, but a big success will be the wind power generation”.
