Brazil - New economic stimulus measures announced

Maesures include exemptions and reductions of taxes

The Brazilian government announced a new set of measures to stimulate the economy, to bypass the global economic crisis in which included a permanent exemption of taxes for wind turbine generators. The measures were announced by the minister of economy during the last meeting of the year of the Council of Economic and Social Development, headed by the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

This country, that at the moment depends 85.4% in renewable sources, primarily, of hydroelectric power stations, will try to reinforce the expected economic growth for 2010.

The majority of the fiscal measures are exemptions and reductions of taxes. The sectors included are those of capital assets, petroleum refining, petrochemical, wind energy production and computers.
