PCS Green Line is the logical redevelopment of our power converters to satisfy the specific needs of wind park operators: A modular product line with standardised design that redefines the parameters of reliability and flexibility. It also sets new standards in terms of expandability - for instance through parallel connections.

PCS Green Line - our new converter family for wind turbines - serves two principally different types of wind turbine: systems using a synchronous generator and systems using a doubly-fed induction generator. PCS power converters are equally proven to the tough service conditions of rail deployment and to highly dynamic industrial requirements. This has been the ideal preparation for the task of converting wind reliably into electrical power, be it on land or in a rough marine environment.

• Performance classes from 1,000 kW to 3,500 kW
• Air-cooled or liquid-cooled
• IGBT-based four-quadrant power converters
• Satisfies technical directives and grid connection requirements (e.g. those of E.ON)

PCS Green Line for Synchronous Generators

Wind turbines with synchronous generator are available with or without gearbox. The generator can be operated with permanent or external excitation. PCS Green Line power converters for synchronous generators are fine-tuned to meet these requirements. As full converters, they will feed the entire generator output into the grid. The integrated fault ride through capability ensures the appropriate grid compatibility. Thanks to their compact design, they are suitable for installation either inside the tower or inside the nacelle.

PCS Green Line for Doubly-Fed Induction Generators

Wind turbines with doubly-fed induction generators feed only part of their generator output - up to 40% - into the grid via the power converter. The PCS Green Line power converters are therefore characterised by a smaller footprint and a low loss rate, resulting in high part-load power efficiency. They can be integrated either in the tower or the nacelle of a wind turbine. The fault ride through capability of the PCS Green Line power converters enables a given system to remain connected to the supply during voltage drops for the required period and to feed in a reactive current.
